EXO’s Ex’Act was 2016’s top physical and digital K-Pop album!
As if it were any surprise, EXO’s 3rd full studio album, Ex’Act was the top-selling physical and digital album of 2016!
The kings have been going at it for 3 years straight. Let’s hope 2017 will be their year too.
On the physical albums chart, Ex’Act sold 800,383 copies, putting it 50k copies ahead of BTS’s Wings album, which came in very close in 2nd place at 751,301 copies.
EXO comes in again at 3rd place with “For Life” with 438,481 copies sold, which is pretty remarkable since it was released like 12 days before 2016 ended.
BTS comes in right after in 4th place with “Young Forever” with 368,369 copies sold.
EXO comes back around to finalize the top 5 with “Lotto” with 352,268 copies sold, which isn’t bad for a repackaged album.
It was definitely a great year for both EXO and BTS alike. Both boys made a double-decker sandwich in the Top 5 physical album sales of South Korea.
Now for the digital charts:
EXO’s Ex’Act takes 1st place with 2,225,483 digital albums sold.
Surprisingly, G’Friend comes in 2nd place with 2,002,238 albums sold with “Snowflake”.
Twice comes in 3rd place with “Page Two” at 1,997,426 albums sold.
Sunday and Kim Taehyun come in 4th place with “Still” at 1,945,377 sales.
And finally, BTS comes in 5th place with 1,760,083 sales.
2016 was a great year for EXO and K-Pop in general. Let’s look forward to what 2017 has to offer.
