LGBT film “Green Light” uses Sehun and Baekhyun as main character names

There’s a new short LGBT film coming out called “Green Light” and it’s already generating a lot of controversy among EXO-L and netizens.

The director decided to name the two male leads of the film “Sehun” and “Baekhyun“.

I think a lot of fans are excited that perhaps this is an EXO fan fiction come to life.

The film will star Jin Seung Yoon and Jung Shi Woo as the male leads. Who will play which character is still up in the air.

LGBT film Green Light uses Sehun and Baekhyun names for main characters

The problem netizens and EXO-L have with Sehun and Baekhyun’s names being used  in this film is that this all seems like blatant noise marketing.

Sehun and Baekhyun aren’t really common names and for both of them to be used makes it seem like this was all planned out.

Of course, getting more buzz for this film will help it become more successful.

And with Sehun and Baekhyun’s names being used, EXO-L will probably be curious enough to check the film out.

Here is the plot of “Green Light”:

“Lovers Sehun and Baekhyun are on a date when Baekhyun alludes to wanting more sexually. Sehun gives in to his repeated requests and promises to do it on their 100th day”.

It really sounds like it’s fan fiction.

While some people are outraged by this, I find it absolutely hilarious.

I wonder what Baekhyun and Sehun are thinking at the moment. I wonder if the other members are teasing them over this.

Here are what netizens/EXO-L are saying, translation by NetizenBuzz:

“The director was definitely intending for it ㅋㅋㅋㅋ”

“Eh.. what is this..”

“Totally intending for it ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ”

“I feel like Sehun and Baekhyun won’t like seeing this… ㅠㅠ Even fanfics are too much for idols to handle sometimes, can’t imagine a movie..”

“I don’t think the members would like this.”

“Why do I see so much noise marketing using the EXO member names ㅠㅠ”

“Pisses me off, it’s obvious they used the names for more attention.”

“We’ll never know for sure whether the director intended it or not but I have been seeing lots of cases of marketing using the EXO member names.”

“Both names aren’t that common ㅋㅋㅋㅋ The director intended it”

“From the perspective of a fan, this pisses me off; I don’t think it’s anything to laugh about”

“This almost feels like sexual harassment…?”

“I’d let it go if it was one name but two names from the same group? Fully intended it..”

“I don’t think Baekhyun or Sehun would like this…”

“I wonder what Baekhyun and Sehun think…”

It’s just names, even if they are named after the Exo members I still don’t get it. I mean, I guess there must be some culture differences (but from an American view point, I don’t see anything wrong w/ it). Ok, so let’s say the movie is actually made, but just with different names, Bob for example. That’s like saying every single Bob in the world will be upset about the movie using their names. Ah (sorry if this sounds like a rant) I just spent my entire day doing work, and needed a stress reliever X3
