Riot Games and MTV are partnering up together to launch a eSports/music festival called HyperPlay!
The event will take place in Singapore, or more specifically the Singapore Indoor Stadium, and will be presented both by the MCCY (Singapore Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth) and the NYC (National Youth Council of Singapore).
The festival will be streamed online and broadcasted on TV.
10 teams from the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) will be participating in the festival.
The teams will be competing on the same stage where local and international artists will be performing their music.
The entire festival will be edited and compacted into a 60-minute special.
Johnson Yeh, the managing director of Riot Games for Greater China and Southeast Asia, stated,
“With Hyperplay, we hope to deliver a great event that gamers will enjoy, and that an even broader audience will see it as an opportunity to discover the richness of the gaming culture.”
Paras Sharma, senior vice president of Southeast Asia’s Viacom International Media Networks, stated,
“There is a natural synergy between eSports and music. With MTV’s expertise in creating compelling music and pop culture experiences, we are amplifying the discovery of a new entertainment experience in the region.”
The festival will take place on August 21st on MTV in Southeast Asia.
The online stream will be available on Twitch (most likely).
